WFAA reports that in October 2023, a student used her Instagram pictures and artificial intelligence to create fake nude photos of a 14-year-old girl. She claimed that nine other students were also victimized.
Fake photos also spread to other social media platforms. Berry and her mom approached Washington lawmakers for help after trying unsuccessfully to get Snapchat to remove the images.
In less than 24 hours, the accounts were deleted.

What is the Take It Down Act in Texas

In the first week of this month, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has introduced the Take It Down Act, which aims to address exploitation by immobilizing technological deepfakes. The bill is designed to empower and protect victims of non-consensual sexual abuse, also called “revenge pornography.”

What is a Deepfake?

A deepfake can be an image, video, or series of pictures generated using machine learning, known as “deep” learning.
